A Girl named Anne.

Recently Justin Bieber has been in the news for a rather controversial note he wrote in the Anne Frank House's guest book. For those of you who have been unaware (lucky you!) here is what he wrote:

“Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”

Now, my biggest problem isn't what he wrote (though we'll cover that in a moment). It is all of his fans asking "Who is Anne Frank?"

This outrages me. HOW can you NOT know who Anne Frank is/was? What are you being taught in school that you skipped over this important piece of history?

Here, let me enlighten you:
Anne Frank was a young girl living in Amsterdam during World War II. She was Jewish and her family hid from the Nazis in what Anne termed the "Secret Annex." She dreamed of being a writer and she kept a diary during her time in hiding. She, and her family, were discovered and taken to Bergen-Belsen (a concentration camp) where she, and her older sister Margot, most likely died of typhus. She was 15.

Her diaries were published 1947, by her father, Otto Frank. He was the only survivor of their family.

When I was about thirteen or so, my grandfather gave me "Anne Frank: The diary of a young girl" for Christmas. It was one of the most precious gifts he ever gave me. I was Anne's age (when she started her diary) at the time. I remember the impact it made on my life. My sadness that this bright light had been snuffed out so early in her life. My heart still aches whenever I think of this brilliant young woman who never had the chance to properly shine.

What angers me the most isn't Justin's comment, though it was uncouth in the situation, it is that so many young people have no idea who this beautiful young woman was. And they have no interest in finding out!

America is lacking in Education. We spend more on our weapons and our wars than we do our children. Prisoners get better educations than some of our children.

For example: The US ranks 14th in Reading, 25th in Maths and 17th in Science as compared to Finland (purported to have the best educational system in the world) which is ranked 2nd in Reading and Maths and 1st in Science. If you don't believe me you can have a look at the following chart created by PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) of the top 34 countries.

This isn't the only comment to outrage me lately (as to education).

As many of you know, I am a huge BioShock fan. Recently BioShock Infinite came out (a game I have waited a couple years for) and I was pleased with the historical details it went into.

A, somewhat, brief synopsis of the game: BioShock Infinite is much like its predecessors in that it covers different ways blind belief and -isms can destroy us. Unlike the previous two, we were not in Rapture. We are no longer in the world originally created around Andrew Ryan (Ayn Rand) and Objectivism (Ayn Rand's philosophy). We are in Columbia (not the country Columbia), a world in the sky and very much like America in 1912, partially because it is an extension of America.

There are a few historical battles mentioned in the game. Namely Wounded Knee and the Boxer Rebellion.

There was a comment that my husband found by someone who played the game. It said "BioShock makes the best Skyrim references" and had a picture of the Battle of Wounded Knee sign in the game. He was referring to the "I was an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee" line said multiple times by various guards in Skyrim. He seemed blissfully unaware that there was a real event called the Battle of Wounded Knee.

I've said this before, I know I have, but if we don't learn from the past how are we to ever survive the future? How will our children make it in this world? What happens when we all stop learning, when we all stop reading? What happens? What happens when we forget young women like Anne Frank and battles like Wounded Knee? What happens when we no longer bother?

To Justin: Your comments were inconsiderate and uncouth. You didn't come across as being cute or witty. You came across as ignorant and proud. Too proud to realize how much of an ass you made yourself look like. Anne Frank wasn't your typical teenage girl. She probably wouldn't have floundered at your feet. If anything, I think she wouldn't have liked you at all. If you had read her diary maybe you would realize she wasn't into the whole self-appreciation crap.

I used to think you were funny Justin. I didn't like your music, but you were a cool kid. I hate the person you have become. You are so self-absorbed and rude. So proud and arrogant. I hope, one day, that you grow out of it.

Electoral

As I write this Obama is behind on the Electoral votes by 30. At least according to the map I've been watching since 6pm. (You can find it at this website: http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/results/president)

I can't help but feel like my whole future is riding on this craziness. And I keep telling myself that Obama is going to win, but I know there is the chance he won't. And it's that chance that is making me sick to my stomach so that I feel like I'm going to throw up.

I know everyone always says "Oh, I'll leave the country if so and so wins." but in reality I don't have enough money to leave the country and no desire to at this point in time, but I genuinely don't want to live in an America run by a millionaire who is proud of the fact that he bullied someone into suicide and who tied his dog to the roof of his car for a trip and who doesn't pay the same taxes I do because he is a millionaire (who hides all of his money overseas so he doesn't have to pay anyway!). This is ridiculous. I have lost all my faith in the American people if we vote in Mr. Romney.

In the meantime, I guess I'll just keep playing Dragon Age: Origins and pretending like I'm not watching the map grow redder by the moment.

Another Moment

I was eleven in 1999. My brother was nine and my sister was almost four.

I don't think it was the first year that my mother let us stay up for New Year's Eve, but it was one of the first years she let us.

Y2K was everywhere. It was the new Communist scare; the newest trend in fear. We were going to be set back from the technological age.

For me it was exciting. I have always dreamed that we would be forced back in time. It is an idea that I've tried to write about too. I love history so much that it made me think that we would start dressing like we did in the 1800's again, start speaking properly and acting like we were civilized. Much to my chagrin, that isn't what would've actually happened if technology had been decimated.

On this particular New Year's Eve, on the brink of a new millenia, my brother and I were staying up for midnight. Hannah had already been put to bed, mostly against her will as she had wanted to be a big girl and stay up too. She fell asleep shortly before ten and I carried her to our shared bedroom. Chris and I hadn't fully decided what we wanted to do.

If I recall correctly, we played some records before we decided to watch a movie.

Of course our first choice was "Much Ado About Nothing."

My mother has always been very eclectic in her tastes (which is where I got it!) and her love of classical things is what influenced me in my love for the same. Shakespeare was one of my first loves. Elvis came first, though.

Anywho, this was one of our favorite films. It still is. So we watched that. That killed some time, but not enough for midnight.

It was around this time that Ivan, a dear family friend, called to wish us Happy New Year. I told him that Mom had gone to bed with a migraine and that Chris and I were watching Shakespeare movies until midnight. He offered to come over and watch movies with us. And bring pizza.

When he arrived we decided to watch "Henry V."

Which, in case you didn't know, is a war movie. It is one of the only war movies I enjoy, because it is Shakespeare in all his glory. And Kenneth Branagh. That helps too... Because it is a war movie, that automatically means that it is bloody. As in VERY bloody. Nothing like blood and pizza on the brink of what was supposed to be the Technological Apocalypse, right?

Anyway, Ivan kept covering his. He isn't fond of blood and gore. Neither am I, usually, but for this particular movie I make an exception. Did I mention Kenneth Branagh is in it? I did? Oh, well it bears repeating... Hmm.... *drools* I mean, what? Where was I? Oh right, the movie.

So, Chris and I, being terrible children, kept teasing Ivan and telling him that the blood was gone. Of course he would peep out from between his fingers and see there was still plenty of blood on the screen and cover them back up. And we would giggle like it was the funniest thing ever. Which, at the time, it was.

I don't know why, but I've been thinking about this particular memory a lot lately. Nostalgia in my old age? Who knows.

I miss those times. I miss believing that everything was going to be fine. I miss believing that we were all going to make it somehow. I miss being closer to my sister. I miss having a family.

I still have a family, but it feels different. It has changed so much from the family it used to be. We are still Debra, Sarai, Chris and Hannah. But we are different. We are much changed from the people we used to be. Sometimes I don't think we are changed for the better.

Sometimes I miss living in that little blue trailer, in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by fields full of alfalfa and woods that held such beautiful mysteries. I miss riding my bike up and down that gravel road. I miss our dogs. I miss my knitting lessons and sneaking peeks of naughty movies while babysitting. I miss sharing a room with my baby sister, with an old and tattered poster of a Degas ballerina. I miss listening to Simon and Garfunkel on the record player. I even miss listening to old sermon tapes.

I miss the deer heads and the mounted fish. I miss fishing and playing in the snow.

I miss making homemade pizza with my mom. I miss playing chess with my brother. I miss reading to my mom.

What I miss most is what you can see in these pictures...

I miss what we used to be, when we were happy. Not when we were fighting, not when we were being abused, not when we were miserable. I miss those sparkling moments that linger in my memory where we were happy and we were a family.

An Ayn Rand Institute Internship

As some of you may or may not know, I have recently been delving into the world/philosophy of Ayn Rand. Partially because of my love of BioShock, which is loosely based on her philosophy (Objectivism). As well as being the best video game EVER!

*clears throat* Anyway, Today I want you to send me as many good thoughts/prayers/voodoo/whatever it is you do because I am going to try to get an internship at the Ayn Rand Institute (henceforth referred to as ARI) for three weeks during the summer. In Irvine California.

I may not be the most qualified, or the most amazing, but I want it badly enough that I'm going to go for it. I just have to start the essay, finish filling out the application and get my records from my high school/GED center.

Thankfully, if I don't get accepted this year, they do this annually so there may be a chance next year. All I can do is try.

Here's to following dreams.

Video Games anyone?

Yep, I've been distracted by Dragon Age II... My bad! Oh well, I hadn't been playing video games for a while there. I think it is okay to take a little break and actually enjoy myself... Maybe?

My head hurts, my stomach hurts. My whole body aches. And I have two more days of work to look forward to.

Have been looking into buying a house. Yes, friends, a house. With a mortgage and a yard. A little house or a duplex. Haven't decided yet. But we are looking into it. May have found one that we could live with/in. Still hoping to move to Sweden, though we are hoping to go ahead and get a house now and then save (in-between mortgage payments) for a place overseas. The sad thing is, it will be cheaper paying on a mortgage than it will be to keep renting. *shrug*

Is it wrong that I want to start writing little bits of fan-fiction again? Donnie says I'm a dork and that fan-fiction is objectively bad, no matter how well you write it. But I still kind of want to write it again. Especially since I'm playing video games lately.

A BioShock fan-fiction or Dragon Age (II)... Or maybe I'll just stick with silly J-Rock/K-Pop fairy tales... I don't know. Maybe I won't do it at all, but its something I feel the urge to do. Maybe I should do it for the sake of just writing...

I am hoping to apply for college next month *fingers crossed*

The plan is, currently, to double major in Linguistics and English Literature. With the hope that one day (when I have a degree) I can translate works of fiction and non-fiction into various languages so that everyone can enjoy the beauty of literature and reading. That's my dream anyway. I don't know how it will be trying to double major. That is going to suck, mightily. But I am determined! I don't want to be a demo lady at Sam's Club forever!

Plus, this would enable me to continue to write AND read! Maybe I will make it through that massive book list I have going?

I should really go and do laundry now, though I am not looking forward to it. I desperately miss having a washer and dryer!! I never knew how inconvenient it was to have to go out to do your laundry! How can people stand it? I certainly can't!

Have been having interesting conversations about religion with one of my co-workers who is Muslim. I don't know what to think about that either. I think he just wants me to believe in something, versus believing in nothing. But it is hard to explain to him that for years I have felt utterly abandoned by God (the gods/goddesses) and that my life hasn't changed from when I followed Him (or her) with utter abandon. My mother says that God is proofing me for the years to come. That I am being tested so that I can help others through the same things.

I think that is bullshit (Sorry, Mom). I really do. Do I have to go through every horrible thing to be able to sympathize with others? That seems stupid to me. I'm obviously not going to go through everything there is to go through and there are always going to be people who are going through something different from me. I can be sympathetic and there for someone without having to go through it myself!

Granted, the list of tragedies and atrocities is long in my short life. But I seriously doubt that whomever exists out there is keeping track just so I can "minister" to someone later.

I also hate the holidays. They are never very happy for me. And I wish we could skip over them. I do appreciate the break from work, however, so I suppose that is something.

I am rambling, skipping from topic to topic... Oh well. You guys love me anyway right?

Enough randomness for now,
love,
Sarai

A Dragon's Age (Or Two)

As many of you know, I love video games. Not a lot, I'm rather picky about the ones I play, but I do enjoy playing. Especially "Dragon Age" and "Dragon Age II". And the biggest reason for this? I enjoy the game play, I enjoy the characters. But I love the romance.

Yep, I love the romantic aspects of those two games. Too which Donnie always rolls his eyes. He says that it is dorky, it is silly, it is awkward. But I can't help it. I have had so few romantic encounters in my lifetime, that I really do enjoy little romances in books and video games. Or tv shows. And when I'm inspired by their romances I want to write stories about it.

Yes, I admit it. I have written a couple of fanfics in my time. The two largest being "J-Rock Wizard of Oz" (which you have all read, I'm sure! ;P) and one I wrote when I was fifteen involving myself, my friend Jo, my friend Ethan and the characters from the Lord of the Rings. And that may also have involved a little romance between myself and Eomer... Okay, it did.

Is it wrong that these things inspire me to write timid little fanfics?

Okay, one of my fanfics may not have been so timid... I may or may not have written a smutty love scene between Qui-Gon Jinn and a twi'lek when I was sixteen. May or may not.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

And now that I've gone off on that rather uncomfortable tangent, back to the topic at hand.

Erm... what was the topic? *scrolls up* Oh right! Video games and Dragon Age(s). I accidentally came across a cosplay of Morrigan (DA 1) on Deviant Art (dA) and this in turn led me to an interesting group that is devoted to Dragon Age(I & II). Mostly it was pictures. Including a few uncomfortable ones involving characters that are decidedly not that sexy.

After saving a bunch of hilarious pictures for Donnie (he likes looking at crazy fan-art), I wandered over to YouTube to get a song for today. Well, lo & behold there is a cute little video of Merrill and Fenris (two characters from the DA 2, Fenris is HOT!) having a little conversation about how Fenris is in love with Hawke (the player character). I couldn't resist opening it and watching it, even though I've had this dialogue before when I was actually PLAYING the game. And, because I enjoy tormenting you all with my eclectic tastes and what not, here is said video. I'll get the music later! :P

A Dangerous Method

I love Keira Knightley. I think she is gorgeous and talented. And did I mention gorgeous? Have I said that before? I think I have. Of course, how can you resist that gorgeous woman right there?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Anywho, Keira is going to be in a new movie in November and I can't wait to see it! This movie is titled "A Dangerous Method" and it also stars Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings, Hidalgo), Michael Fassbender (Fable III, Inglorious Basterds) and Vincent Cassel (Eastern Promises, Black Swan).

It is based on some letters and diaries left behind by Carl Jung's first official patient, Sabina Spielrein, who also became his lover and apparently, student. Not only this, but it also shows the intense relationship between Jung and his mentor, Sigmund Freud.

Part of the reason I'm excited about this is not only because I love Keira, but also because I love Viggo and Vincent Cassel. Vincent Cassel was brilliant in Black Swan (which I'll have to blog about some time as well!), as well as being intensely creepy in Eastern Promises (which also starred Viggo Mortensen). And don't even get me started on Viggo! I love, love, love Viggo Mortensen! He is great (aside from him always having to be naked)!

Not only all that, but fun fact, Michael Fassbender played the voice of Logan in Fable III! Great game, btw, Fable III.

So, because I'm a huge fan of Keira and Viggo (and Vincent!) I am excited about this movie. Not only that, but it also looks nifty! Well, okay, nifty to me because I have an interest in psychoanalysis and the ideas of Freud and Jung. Freud more so, since most (if not all) of his theories have been debunked in recent years.

Dancing in My Chair

Sometimes, at random moments, I will passionately miss the 90's. As in the decade, the 1990's. Seriously, I don't know why. The 90's had some horrible fashion trends and some less than good music, but it was my childhood and I embrace that.

Its at these moments that I go back to the music I listened to, or discovered in the 90's. Or I watch some clips from my favorite shows. Or I sit and just dance in my chair to the music I loved (when I could listen to it that is, a certain man [who shall remain nameless] forbade the listening of certain music that wasn't Christian). I listen to 90's pop, Christian music, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. I think about Doug, the Rugrats, All That, Wishbone, Are You Afraid of the Dark and Cousin Skeeter. I read excerpts from "Saddle Club", "The Boxcar Children" and "Goosebumps" (which I didn't read until I was in my late teens).

And sometimes, because I'm rediscovering my childhood, I discover new music and I fall in love with a decade when everything seemed so much more simple! At least to me. Do you remember when Britney was at the top of her game? Songs like "Lucky" and "Oops I did it Again"? Or "Big Butts"? We were the Nintendo players, the Mariah Carey lovers, the believers of Aliens and Y2K. We wore high tops and had crew cut hair. We were insane and believed in so much, hoped for so much.

I miss those times. I really do. I don't know why, because the 90's had its downsides too. Like any decade. Like any day. Like any life. But the 90's was my childhood. When I went swimming with my Aunt Carmen all summer. Or cleaned house with my Aunt Peggy, who would let me spend the night and watch Mork & Mindy in between homeschooling lessons.

I miss getting cappuccino for the first time and discovering how delicious it was. I miss running through the woods and pretending it was Narnia. I miss discovering "The Yellow Submarine" with my brother and all the movies my mom introduced us to. I miss falling asleep to Simon & Garfunkel at night and dancing with Hannah to Loggins & Messina. The 90's was my playground, my perfect time. My biggest worries were the boys I was crushing on and Y2K (which everyone was afraid of).

For New Year's Chris and I would stay up until midnight watching "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Henry V" with our family friend, Ivan, while eating pizza and teasing Ivan when he would cover his eyes during the bloody parts. We went to the Egyptian exhibit at the Children's Museum and rode our bikes up and down the gravel roads.

My mother taught me to read, inspired me to write, inspired a love of literature and writing, of exploring everything. She taught me that every moment is a learning moment.

I played with Hannah, my baby sister. She looked like Shirley Temple at 2. I took her outside and chased her all over the yard. At night she would kick me out of bed, even though she was 2 and I was 10. As a baby, I would feed her cheerios in her bouncy seat and sing her Simon & Garfunkel songs as lullabies. I would read books about Sacajawea and Sesame Street. She was my first experience with a baby (when I would've been old enough to understand it). And, in a way, she was my baby. I protected her, I dressed her up, I changed her diapers and fed her. I played dolls with her. And I failed her in many ways. And, in many ways, she is still my baby, even though she is 15 now.

Chris and I would race our bikes, try stupid stunts (like tying Chris to the back of my bike to help him run faster and "lose weight") and chopping wood. We chopped a lot of wood, fed and watered a lot of dogs. I forced him to play Barbie dolls with me and he drove me up a wall. We dressed up, we fought, we forgave each other and he is one of my best friends to this day.

I met my best friend, Sarah W., a friendship that has lasted us 13 years this year. We used to talk on the phone for hours and hours. We watched "Pocahontas" over the phone, because we didn't get to hang out in real life as often as we wished. We played Gordon Lightfoot as loud as possible and scream-sang along. We picked berries and ate them all, while sitting in a field of green and white. We played Legos and made up stories. We ran wild, wrote notes in our own secret language during church. She helped me fall in love with snakes. I helped her fall in love with Star Wars.

I believed in Jesus with all my heart. Believed there was some reason for all the pain, for all hard times. For all the deaths and the lies. The 1990's were beautiful to me, even though I had a step-father who abused my brother and my mother almost died on our bathroom floor. Even though I was sexually abused. Even though my grandparents died. Even though it was the last time I saw my father in person. The last I spoke to him on the phone. The last letter I received. I believed that a good and just God was going to make it all right. That He was polishing me like how a gem is polished with stones.

I wanted to be a doctor. I wanted to deliver babies in China, stop the abortions from happening. Protect the innocent. I wanted to be an actress and star in the movies I had seen. I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to be a civil rights activist. I wanted to be free. Dream my dreams, live my life. I wanted to be married and have 16 children that I would home-school. I wanted to be a missionary. I wanted to be loved.

Do any of those childhood dreams still hold sway? Can they still exist now that I'm older, wiser, and I know all that I know?

For your viewing pleasure, a song from the 1990's that I used to dance to, alone in my room.

That's right, "Livin' La Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin. And yes, I am that dorky.

This is for the Insane Birds

Here are ten ways to know that you are insane:

1. You use your boyfriend's penis as a microphone, while singing to a really weepy break up song.

2. You suggest taking lung into your air, rather than air into your lungs.

3. You laugh like an idiot for a few minutes before realizing that you don't even remember why you were laughing.

4. You get so trashed that you don't even care when you fall down and your "friends" roll you down the parking lot.

5. You pick out random Robert Frost poetic references during a song that is played incessantly at work.

6. You get excited when a video game character references a Harrison Ford movie.

7. You actually contemplate making up a Facebook page for a video game character so you can be friends.

8. Your boyfriend catches you rocking out to "The Safety Dance"... in your underwear.

9. You get so upset when your skinned hound dies in "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" that you not only cry, but you refuse to play the game for a week or so.

10. For some absurd reason you actually believe in Mermaids and Unicorns and/or you have celebrated Zombie Appreciation Month.

Well, I think there was no doubt before this post, but I'm pretty sure I'm insane. Partially because I come up with lists that prove that I'm insane. Also, its fun to rock out to "The Safety Dance" in your underwear, until you get caught. Then its just awkward. O.O

And suddenly, I don't know why, but I have the line "This shit is bananas, B A NA NA S!" by Gwen Stefani...

Video Games: A Review

Hello Everyone! Today is Sunshiney Sunday and I am as crazy as ever! In fact, I'm going to "review" some video games just because I've been on a video game kick for about a week now. I've sacrificed like 80 hours to one game in particular, which I'm pretty sure makes me an addict. Just sayin'.

First up is my all time favorite video game (I'll blog about other video games as I play them), partially because of the game itself and partially because it was the first video game I actually wanted to try (after watching Donnie play it for a couple of weeks after we started dating).

BioShock!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

BioShock is set in an underwater city called Rapture during the 1960's. Rapture is the brain child of Andrew Ryan, the worst kind of villain in that he truly believes in his cause. However, as many great civilizations, Rapture has begun to collapse.

"We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us." - Andrew Ryan.

You meet a myriad of villains/people in this game. The most prolific being "Splicers". The splicers are people who have become addicted to genetic modification (Plasmids) and have, in turn, gone completely insane. You use plasmids as well, after gaining "ADAM", which is the key to the genetic modification.

"Plasmids changed everything. They destroyed our bodies, our minds; we couldn't handle it. Best friends butchering one another, babies strangled in cribs... the whole city went to Hell." - Atlas.

"ADAM" is harvested by the "Little Sisters" from the many corpses populating Rapture and you can gain "ADAM" by either saving or harvesting the Little Sisters. Little Sisters are little girls taken by the scientists of Rapture and used to help create more "ADAM" through processes that would be Spoilerific.

"Look, Mr. Bubbles. It's an angel! I can see light coming from his belly." - Little Sister.

A couple really cool facts about this game
A good portion of the game is based on Ayn Rand, Randian Philosophy and Objectivism. Andrew Ryan is a male personification of Ayn Rand, Frank Fontaine's name is taken from her book "The Fountainhead" and Atlas' name is taken from her other book "Atlas Shrugged".

To use plasmids you must use "EVE" hypos, the counterpart to "ADAM".

BioShock was originally going to be about a "cult deprogrammer" (according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioShock#Development). Reading what Wiki has to say, I would totally play a game like that and I hope someone follows that idea soon!

You can totally spot Pac-Man, play guitar, catch a creepy glimpse of a Little Sister, see Jack's (your character) face and spot Ayn Rand's face.

The Bot that thought it was a Pornstar

I was logging into my messenger today and I received an add request from a name I didn't recognize. I went ahead and added them to see who it was. The following conversation kind of amused me.

Sarai: Who is this?

george-pierce19752011: Are you busy??

george-pierce19752011: hey babe! how r ya?

Sarai: I'm well. And you?

george-pierce19752011: i just got off work, {link} cum watch me, we can chat :)

Sarai: Do I know you?

george-pierce19752011: i dun think so hun but we can get to know each other better and maybe exchange phone numbers if ur comfortable witht that..

Sarai: What is your name?

george-pierce19752011: jennifer, just call me jenny

Sarai: I'm Sarai.

Sarai: Are you into girls?

george-pierce19752011: i have a fetish for being on camera ;)

Sarai: Uh huh

Sarai: And what do you do on camera?

george-pierce19752011: do u have a cam?

Sarai: I do not

george-pierce19752011: you can watch my webcam but you're not a kid right??

Sarai: I like how you check. What if I said I was a kid? How would you know if I am lying about my age or not? Doesn't this sound like a bad plan?

george-pierce19752011: k ..well im gonna show you ..k?

Sarai: I don't think it will let you, but go ahead.

Sarai: After you.

george-pierce19752011: {link} go there and tell me what you think ;p

Sarai: I told you I don't have a cam

george-pierce19752011: you don't need a cam to see mine

Sarai: I know, but it wants me to verify mine, plus you keep asking to see me, after I told you that I don't have a cam.

george-pierce19752011: you don't need a cam to see mine

Sarai: You said that already, love. I think you are a bot.

george-pierce19752011: a what?

Escaping Reality

Here is another great IU student film produced by my friend Nick and starring my friends Phil and Eric. I really love the fuzziness of the film (you'll understand what I mean when you watch it) transition into the clearness of reality.

I think it is also a great depicition of Alcoholism and the effects of attempting to avoid reality, but I think you will understand it better when you watch it. Enjoy!

Your Fragrance was so Beautiful

Today's song is one of my favorites. It is Fragrance by Gackt and it is a live version. Gackt is one of few singers I know who is actually BETTER when he is live. So, I hope you enjoy this beautiful video of a beautiful man singing a beautiful song.

Do you ever tire of the news? I do sometimes, but I do think it is something I should do. So here is the news and maybe later on today we'll have something a little more interesting.

A few Quotes I really like
"Achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life, and that happiness, not pain or mindless self-indulgence, is the proof of your moral integrity, since it is the proof and the result of your loyalty to the achievement of your values."
Ayn Rand (Objectivist)

"Eloquent speech is not from lip to ear, but rather from heart to heart."
William Jennings Bryan (Lawyer)

and in honor of Women's History month a few quotes on women.
"No longer should women be denied the right to vote, no longer should women be treated as second class citizens, no longer should women not be allowed to be a citizen at all."
Ginny B. Waite (Female Politician)

"We women must listen to our inner voice. It is easier for women to do this as they are not afraid to say what they feel."
Indra Devi (a Disciple of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya)

"Women who love women are Lesbians. Men, because they can only think of women in sexual terms, define Lesbian as sex between women."
Rita Mae Brown (Author)

And, because I COMPLETELY spaced African-American History Month (I usually don't forget it as it is my favorite month besides September)
"No other group in America has so had their identity socialized out of existence as have black women... When black people are talked about the focus tends to be on black men; and when women are talked about the focus tends to be on white women."
Bell Hooks (Author, Feminist)

"We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom, the empathy to understand what it's like to be poor or African-American or gay or disabled or old - and that's the criterion by which I'll be selecting my judges."
Barack Obama (The First Black President)

"Genius is an African who dreams up snow."
Vladimir Nabokov (Novelist)
