A Fashionable Affair

As promised here is another blog on Fashion and the Fashionable. Today we're going to look at clothing for women, particularly dresses and swim suits. Partially because the trends hardly ever change for men and partially because I am a woman.

First up on women's fashion is this "classic" knit dress by Mark Fast. I'm not sure what the classic part means. Mr. Fast, I would just like to say has not created anything spectacular with this piece, at least in this blogger's opinion. I could also make something like this, being a knitter. It would take time and the materials, but would roughly cost you $30 to $40. That would cover the materials used and, unless I charged you by the hour, my time spent making it. This piece will cost you £1,285.00. That is how much it would cost you in Euros, in United States Dollars (USD) it will cost you more, because the dollar isn't exactly up right now. Total cost in US currency is $1,572.05.

Next up we have a beautiful bathing suit (as Summer has finally arrived). I don't know who designed it, but I think it is one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen. I especially like the side piece connecting the top and bottom. As far as swimsuits go this is my favorite. If you know who designed this particular piece feel free to leave me a comment.

Also in fashion right now is this lovely piece that people are calling a "suspender vest". I actually am looking into making one for myself. I've been seeing a lot of girls wearing this around where I live. I love the simple cut of it and how it accentuates the bust line. I also love the blouse that they chose to pair this with. It looks perfect for the office or a night out with friends. Plus it can be paired with either a nice pair of slacks or a pencil skirt.

This is one of my favorite dresses. I love the neckline, I like the hemming and I love the particular shade that they chose for it. I love the length, though I personally wouldn't wear it that short(I'm self-conscious) and I love the way it hangs on the mannequin. Mini dresses are in this season and they are quite cute, in my opinion.

Up next is a black dress by Carla Zampatti. This is another of my favorite dresses, not just because it is black, but because of the simplicity. If you haven't noticed by now, I love simplicity in my clothing and shoes. The ruffles at the top serve to accentuate the simplicity of the rest of the dress, but still add a decent amount of flair to the piece. I'm not quite sure if this is an A-line or an Empire waisted dress because of the model's stance, but it is lovely nonetheless. I would prefer this dress to the fabled "little black dress".

This next picture is of another bathing suit. This particular bathing suit is a Julisha Cut Out Bathing suit. Firstly, I hate the color scheme. It is too loud and the colors do not match well. Secondly, I don't like the way it is designed. It appears to be too complex to even attempt to put on, let alone be comfortable in. This type of swimsuit is bound to bunch up on you if you try to lay on your stomach and provide some very unappealing tan lines if you lie on your back. And did I mention that I hate the color scheme?

Lastly, we have a Hervé Léger piece as worn by singer, Kelly Rowland. I love the designs that are found all over the front and sides of this particular dress. Especially the right side with the lace up pattern. It gives a great sense of a corset on the sides, while still keeping the flow of the rest of the dress. I also love the length of the sleeves. They fit perfectly with the short hem of the dress itself and keep everything balanced.

Look forward to more dresses, shoes, men's clothing, women's clothing and other such fashion trends in the next blog. ^^

Sarai.

The Subtle Art of Fashion

I am always the first person to admit that I am NOT fashionable. Not in any way, shape or form. I don't like dresses, I abhor shoes and I detest being confined to what is in and what is out. However, this doesn't mean that I don't like things that ARE fashionable. I love looking at beautiful clothes and shoes. I like knowing what is in fashion and what isn't. I like watching the trends while I do my own thing.

Anyway, this is a blog about different things going on in the fashion world. Some of them are strange, some gorgeous and some just what the fuck? Some of them I even like! So let's begin the tour shall we?

For this particular blog let's start with Shoes. Shoes are the bane of my existence. I love being barefoot. Though, admittedly I love the way some shoes look. I also like the way my feet look in some shoes. I think if I had smaller feet I'd like them better. Unfortunately, for myself, I have size 11 feet (10 in men's) and they just don't make enough cute shoes for my size.

2010 is definitely the year for new and innovative shoes. I'm pretty sure that Lady Gaga has helped with this as the shoes she often wears in her videos are very strange and painful looking. And as I'm sure most people know fashion trends often follow celebrity.

The first picture I would like to show is of a shoe imitating a red rose. I think it is one of the most gorgeously designed shoes I've ever seen. I love roses, being one of my favorite flowers, and this particular shoe captures all the beauty of a rose with the simplicity of heels. The curves of the petals are especially beautiful. Delicate and simple, but they add a touch of class to this already classy shoe.

Next we have the Mink Shoe. This shoe is supposedly lined with genuine mink fur. I do not particularly like this shoe, completely putting aside the fact that it is lined with mink. It isn't a very well designed shoe, in my opinion. Also, the particular pairing of reptilian skin and mink fur does not seem very logical to me. Whilst both can create a beautiful piece of fashion, I do not think that the two together is a good combination. Also, the reptilian pattern changes in four different instances, making the unevenness unappealing to say the least.
Follow the link to see where the fur comes from: http://wildlifemysteries.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/american-mink2.jpg

Next on our list of shoes is the Manolo Blahnik Pepe Sandal. I prefer the closed toe version of these sandals, but was unable to find a good picture of them. I must admit that Manolo Blahnik's shoes are beautiful. I really do like them. If I was into spending hundreds of dollars on shoes that will be out of fashion by the fall, I would buy his shoes. I think what I like about these particular shoes is the simplicity. These shoes don't have to be extravagant or crazy to be beautiful. They are simplistically classy and elegant all on their own.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This next shoe is just for shits and giggles as far as shoes go. Whilst it would definitely be a good anti-rape tool, it is also quite pretty if you look past the spikes. I am a fan of simplicity when it comes to shoes. The simpler the better. Often people think they have to have elaborate hair, costumes and shoes to be beautiful, but beauty is often found in simplicity. Such is the case with this shoe. Remove the spikes and you have a beautiful, simple, shoe.

Our next picture is of a shoe designed by Catherine Malandrino. I love the color of it, but not so much a fan of the heel. It is an interesting design and with the right outfit would kick some major ass, but personally speaking I wouldn't wear them. These would, however, offer more support than the average spiked heel.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Our last shoe for today is another Manolo Blahnik shoe. I do not know the exact name of this particular shoe, but love it. Well, except the point. I am not that big a fan of pointed toe shoes. I like rounded toe shoes, because it offers more comfort for the wearer. However, many women don't care and will go to great lengths to be fashionable. Such is the case with the pointed toe wonder that is this particular creation by Manolo Blahnik. I love the beading and the design on the shoe itself. It is a simple enough shoe, but the beading and various patterning really brings it out.

Well, that is all for now. I plan on posting some more on the topic of fashion relatively soon. Look forward to Wedding fashion, some more shoe fashion and other such fashionable things.

In the mean time,
Peace and Elbow Grease,
Sarai.

MY MCNUGGETS ARE SUFFOCATING ME!!!!

Fawny says:
* http://pagingdrgupta.blogs.cnn.com/2010/06/25/a-tale-of-2-nuggets/?hpt=C2

Sarai says:
* So, can't wait until I move to Europe

Fawny says:
* Lol.
* TBHQ... the side effects. They make me cringe.

Sarai says:
* I wonder why.

Fawny says:
* TBHQ is a preservative for vegetable oils and animal fats, limited to .02 percent of the oil in the nugget. One gram (one-thirtieth of an ounce) can cause "nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, delirium, a sense of suffocation, and collapse," according to “A Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives.”

I soooo don't want to put that in my body...
* MY MCNUGGETS ARE SUFFOCATING ME!!!!

Sarai says:
* And so we bid a fond farewell to the Addicted to McNuggets Fawn. She was dear to us, but we must say good bye. *kicks body off the pier*
* *giggles*

Fawny says:
* *drowns*

Sarai says:
* *waves goodbye*

A Portrait of the Artist as a Flower

Humanity is a cannibalistic flower. We bloom, ever growing in this canopy of sky and sunshine. We devour ourselves, the bones of those before us, our brothers and sisters, our neighbors and friends. We are beautiful, colorful and chaotic. We are roses and dandelions, dancing and spinning through time and space.

Ever-changing and always the same. We are complex and simple in our complexities. We are a virgin and a whore, constantly moving from one body to the next in our hunger. This hunger is overwhelming, devouring us. In its wake we are transfixed by the greed and the need. We are sexuality and ritual, cannibals and whores. Flightless birds on a collision course.

We are a field of red. Red roses, red poppies, red paint dripping everywhere. Wars divide us, unite us. We stand alone, but stand together. We pick the flowers we like best and cut down the others, proclaiming them weeds. It is the same in every generation. We have our prejudices, our vices. We are purity and love, beauty and lust.

We are simplistic in our complex nature. Chaos mating simplicity and complexity in a ritualistic, cannibalistic and sexual frenzy. We try to escape, but there is no escaping the self. We find ourselves within the bodies of others, raping and killing, trying to find the truth in blood. In the end we are hacked down by the flowers behind us. Each of us weeping that it was not our time.

The Marilyn Monroe Blog

Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortensen in Los Angeles, California on June 1st, 1926. She died on August 5th (Donnie and My anniversary), 1962 at the age of 36. She was married to Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller at one point, a friend of Einstein and a lover of John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy. Which may have been why she died.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Arthur Miller once said that Marilyn Monroe "was a poet on a street corner trying to recite to a crowd pulling at her clothes."

It literally hurts me when people say that Marilyn was a slut or a whore or stupid. When the exact opposite is true. Marilyn was very intelligent, interested in politics and loving. Admittedly, she had her faults, all of us do.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A red-head too. She was beautiful, even today she is still regarded as a sex goddess. But that is not what she wanted to be. She wanted to be a mother someday. She even said so herself.

"I have too many fantasies to be a housewife. I guess I am a fantasy."

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"The thing I want more than anything else? I want to have children. I used to feel for every child I had, I would adopt another."

"Fame is fickle and I know it. It has its compensations, but it also has its drawbacks and I've experienced them both."

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

She loved Beethoven records and reading Tolstoy and Whitman. She took literature classes at UCLA and acting classes, because she was forever trying to be better. She was a human being who had addictions and trials. She had miscarriages and was increasingly drawn into the world of alcohol and drugs to cope. She was endlessly unhappy with herself and the world around her. The world that couldn't accept who she was.

A human being. A woman who just wanted to be loved.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This is to my beautiful Marilyn Monroe. A poem I wrote just for you. Sweetest dreams.

Marilyn Monroe
A mad poet, dancing through space. You scribbled venom, running from fate.
A wandering prophet, searching the deserts for a glimpse of God, only to find
sand.

A Goddess, you longed for mortality. Wishing for someone to love who you
were, not who you had been. All the while holding a world that loved only
your beauty, never looking within.

A gypsy forsaken by the music, surrounded by glittering diamonds, but they
weren’t your friends. Pursued by men who never cared or ever would, all
they ever wanted was between your legs.

A million sparkling pieces, exploding and shattering, will you ever stop
spinning out of control? Will you ever find what you crave? More fragile than
you appeared, you were stronger than they knew.

Norma Jean was lost, found in the coffin of Miss Marilyn Monroe. Was the
price of that last kiss worth your soul? Did they truly love Marilyn Monroe?
Were you still Norma Jean at the end of it all?

Now you are an icon, worshiped and idolized, but did they ever look into those
beautifully broken eyes? Beloved by a generation, one that never understood
the scars that lay just beneath the skin.

The Palm Reader

My friend, Kid, and I went to see a Palm Reader/Tarot Reader/Psychic yesterday. It was very amusing. Though, entirely TOO expensive for my tastes.

I don't know if I believe in that kind of thing, though I think it is fun to think about. I enjoyed it, at any rate.

We also went to an antiques store and two book stores. I love Book stores!! :D I will post a couple of picks from the antique store later on today.

Anyway, Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. I hope it is a fantastic day for you. For those of you who are just normal people with no children or you are a girl, so this doesn't fit you, have a happy Day o' the Sun. :D

I will Scream.

This blog is about Twilight. I thought I had posted a blog about this topic before, but apparently not on here or anywhere else. Hmm. Anyway, the reason for this is because I am tired of people comparing Romeo and Juliet to Twilight. So here, is my little rant on that. Enjoy.

RANT

First of all Shakespeare was a literary GENIUS. He added thousands of words to the English language, created a story for almost every genre known to mankind and is still one of the most widely read authors of our time.

Secondly, Romeo and Juliet (being one of my favorite Shakespeare plays) is about love at first sight. Not meeting someone who breaks into your bedroom at night to watch you sleep and is always bringing up the fact that he can (and wants to) eat you. Also, Juliet has a life independent of Romeo. She is the daughter of a leader, she is supposed to marry someone else when she falls, tragically, in love with Romeo. There is a whole story besides Romeo and Juliet's love interest in one another.

Thirdly, whilst Romeo may show some signs of stalking (I can admit that he does go looking for her), it isn't out and out stalking. And they get married and then realize how flawed that plan was. In the end they kill themselves for love and everybody is better for it. If "Twilight" was anything like Romeo and Juliet, then Edward and Bella would die and the rest of us would feel much better and could continue on with our lives.

Unfortunately, Stephenie Meyer decides to go and ruin the entire Vampire genre with someone who sparkles and reads minds, but can't read Bella's mind at all (which is never explained) who is also bipolar and manic-depressive. Bram Stoker is turning in his grave as we speak. Then to add insult to injury she can't even keep his hair color straight. That's right, I went there. She says he has bronze hair one moment (which is brown and gold), red-brown the next and red-gold after that. None of those colors are alike except that two of them have brown and two of them have gold. There are other such cases through out the books where she incorrectly calls something one thing and then calls it another, sometimes in the same sentence.

So again, I would like to point out the following:

Vampires do not sparkle (I know they aren't real, but there is mythology that she could've researched and did not). I could understand if she gave some explanation as to why Edward is different, but she doesn't. EVER. He doesn't explain why he isn't burnt up in the sunlight or why he doesn't turn into a bat or anything else. I refer you to Christopher Pike's "Thirst No.1 and No.2" for reference on explaining what you are changing about the mythology and why.

It is not only breaking and entering to break into Bella's house every night for a month and watch her sleep, but it is also considered stalking.

Controlling where she goes and what she does is abuse. Making her feel guilty for feeling certain ways or doing certain things is abuse. Breaking her car so she can't leave is abuse. Abandoning her is abuse. Need I go on?

Romeo and Juliet was created by a literary Genius and Twilight was created by a lonely woman who wanted to create a fantasy for herself. And then wrote it very poorly.

My Stand on World Peace

My stand on World Peace if I were a contestant in the Miss America Competition. Note: I've only watched like 1 Miss America Competition, so forgive me if some of the details are off.

Let's pretend for a minute that I am Sarai (which I am) and I am Miss Random State. Now, as is often posed to Miss America candidates, I am asked a question about World Peace. The following is how I picture this going.

Question: Do you think that World Peace is possible and if so, how can it be accomplished?

Miss Random State: World Peace cannot be as long as Human Beings exist.

Question: Explain.

Miss Random State: Human beings are what holds us back from World Peace because of our inability to settle conflicts peacefully and live in harmony. We are constantly bickering with one another and hating those who are different from us. If there was no hate, no fighting, no war or conflicts, we could have peace. Unfortunately it is Human nature to have conflict, from the moment that we discovered the ability to kill others. With our own hands we have murdered any hope for peace whilst we exist within the realm of reality.

Audience: Stunned and angry, most likely. Some people agree with me. In the end I do not win the bid for Miss America and receive a bunch of hate mail that only goes to prove my point.

Why am I doing this, you might ask? Well I posted on Facebook earlier the following statement "World Peace cannot be as long as Human Beings exist." and one of my friends from high school commented on this with "Is that your miss America stand?", which got me thinking.

My reply was "Why yes, yes it is. Lol, if I ever were in the competition. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't get me voted into being Miss America either. :D" and the rest is history (so to speak).

I think about some very interesting things sometimes. ^^

Crazy Happenings

As I mentioned in the last entry my life has been pretty crazy lately.

First off, I lost my job. This occurred after just 1 week of training and 1 week of being an ACTUAL employee. That sucked. I was heartbroken, because I really (REALLY) liked that job. I am over being sad now and have moved on to just being pissed.

Secondly, my mom got re-married. We all knew that she was going to get married, we just weren't expecting it to happen so soon. Originally it was going to be July, but it ended up being May 28th. And no, I wasn't there for the wedding. I found out after waking up from a nap.

Thirdly, did I mention my mom got FUCKING MARRIED? Yeah, crazy shit. So because she got married she isn't going to renew the lease here, which means we all have to be out by the 1st of August. Which would be just fine if I still had a job, but I don't.

Not only that, you guys might not know this, but I don't have my high school diploma. Due to a lot of health issues when I was in school I didn't get to finish. So I'm also trying to get my GED, so that I can get a GOOD job. As in, benefits, insurance, the whole nine yards.

Anyway, that is what is going on now.

This time I'm not going to promise that I'll do better, or promise to blog more often. For now I'm just going to say that when everything gets straightened out I'll write more. I may write a lot in the next few days or I might not, you never know. In the mean time, please keep reading and please keep telling people about the show and the blog. It would be nice to come back to a bunch of new fans.

love,
Sarai

Just Like You

I was thinking about someone today, we won't say who and I came across this song that reminds me of this person. So, for your viewing pleasure, here is the video and the lyrics.

"Just Like You"

I could be mean
I could be angry
You know I could be just like you

I could be fake
I could be stupid
You know I could be just like you

You thought you were standing beside me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you

You thought you were there to guide me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you
You thought you were there to guide me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you

I could be cold
I could be ruthless
You know I could be just like you

I could be weak
I could be senseless
You know I could be just like you

You thought you were standing beside me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you

You thought you were there to guide me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you
You thought you were there to guide me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you

On my own, cause I can't take living with you
I'm alone, so I won't turn out like you
Want me to

You thought you were standing beside me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you

You thought you were there to guide me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you
You thought you were there to guide me
You were only in my way
You're wrong if you think that I'll be just like you

I could be mean
I could be angry
You know I could be just like you

SO, yes, there is your song for the day. I am sorry that I haven't really been blogging recently. I've been trying to take care of a few things in my personal life, plus my Mom got married (again) on the 28th. With that, plus looking for a job, plus trying to get moved out things have been hectic. Anyway, here's hoping we will have more blogs soon. ^^
