Here is another great IU student film produced by my friend Nick and starring my friends Phil and Eric. I really love the fuzziness of the film (you'll understand what I mean when you watch it) transition into the clearness of reality.
I think it is also a great depicition of Alcoholism and the effects of attempting to avoid reality, but I think you will understand it better when you watch it. Enjoy!

The Marilyn Monroe Blog
Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortensen in Los Angeles, California on June 1st, 1926. She died on August 5th (Donnie and My anniversary), 1962 at the age of 36. She was married to Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller at one point, a friend of Einstein and a lover of John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy. Which may have been why she died.
Arthur Miller once said that Marilyn Monroe "was a poet on a street corner trying to recite to a crowd pulling at her clothes."
It literally hurts me when people say that Marilyn was a slut or a whore or stupid. When the exact opposite is true. Marilyn was very intelligent, interested in politics and loving. Admittedly, she had her faults, all of us do.
A red-head too. She was beautiful, even today she is still regarded as a sex goddess. But that is not what she wanted to be. She wanted to be a mother someday. She even said so herself.
"I have too many fantasies to be a housewife. I guess I am a fantasy."
"The thing I want more than anything else? I want to have children. I used to feel for every child I had, I would adopt another."
"Fame is fickle and I know it. It has its compensations, but it also has its drawbacks and I've experienced them both."
She loved Beethoven records and reading Tolstoy and Whitman. She took literature classes at UCLA and acting classes, because she was forever trying to be better. She was a human being who had addictions and trials. She had miscarriages and was increasingly drawn into the world of alcohol and drugs to cope. She was endlessly unhappy with herself and the world around her. The world that couldn't accept who she was.
A human being. A woman who just wanted to be loved.
This is to my beautiful Marilyn Monroe. A poem I wrote just for you. Sweetest dreams.
Marilyn Monroe
A mad poet, dancing through space. You scribbled venom, running from fate.
A wandering prophet, searching the deserts for a glimpse of God, only to find
sand.
A Goddess, you longed for mortality. Wishing for someone to love who you
were, not who you had been. All the while holding a world that loved only
your beauty, never looking within.
A gypsy forsaken by the music, surrounded by glittering diamonds, but they
weren’t your friends. Pursued by men who never cared or ever would, all
they ever wanted was between your legs.
A million sparkling pieces, exploding and shattering, will you ever stop
spinning out of control? Will you ever find what you crave? More fragile than
you appeared, you were stronger than they knew.
Norma Jean was lost, found in the coffin of Miss Marilyn Monroe. Was the
price of that last kiss worth your soul? Did they truly love Marilyn Monroe?

Word of the Day (7-14)

Precocious (04/07/2010)
They call her precocious. They call her a genius, a prodigy. It seems they call her everything but her name. She doesn't want to study or change the world. She just wants to eat candy and stay up late. She just wants to be a little girl.
Peccadillo
"A peccadillo my child. Recite five Hail Mary's and all shall be forgiven." said Father Connor. He sighed as another person entered the booth.
"Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned."
"What do you wish to confess?"
"I wear woman's underwear and I am not a woman."
Effusion
The poetic effusion of Autumnal bliss engulfed the young poet. She felt inspired by poets long gone. She heard Beethoven in the trees. She saw Robert Frost's writing in the stars. Every brook seemed to have issued from Monet's brush. Powerfully she was humbled by the greatness of those who went before.
Effervescent
Effervescent in nature, Jane tries to be quiet. "An exercise in patience," she says to no one. She flutters, bubbling with anticipation and impatience. As the moment approaches, her excitement grows so that she bounces back and forth on her toes. He approaches, clean cut and dressed in white. Her joy is abundant as he hands her the butter pecan ice cream she ordered.
Peace
Peace is a condition to which all humanity should strive. A condition of tranquility brought on by the cessation of our own prejudices and quarreling. Peace is achieved when we let go of petty faults, prejudices, et cetera. When we forget ourselves and focus on repairing what has been lost, peace will return. Finding peace is like finding a forgotten flower, quietly graceful. Inner peace lies at the heart of inner beauty.
Apotheosis
"It is only a matter of time before I reach my apotheosis!" cackled the Witch. "Soon, I shall be a goddess, powerful beyond measure! A pinch more of this, a pinch more of that into the stew. Destiny conjured into a bottle and sealed with a kiss. Tomorrow I shall be a goddess!"
Quintessence
The quintessence of my existence has been knowing you. You are the epitome of my experience, the love of my life. My world consists of your lips, your arms. What am I without you? Who could I possibly find to replace you? True love is the quintessence of Human experience.
Loquaciously
Loquaciously she sallies forth into the literal unknown. Determined that the whole world will listen to what she says. She rambles, shouting her desires and opinions to a blue sky. In the end they are only opinions. No one cares for a loquacious young woman, preaching on a sidewalk. She is invisible.

Moonlight Sonata
Current mood: Awake
Today (this 1st day of 2010) we will begin with Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata". It is one of my favorite classical pieces of all time. It is very calming and quiet, a beautiful and haunting piece of music that is the perfect way to begin a New Year.
As for the news of Today I have decided to go back as far as to when I crashed. I am going to go week by week starting with the week after my crash and so on. So, for your reading pleasure here is THE NEWS!
